A Clear Choice for Healthcare (2024)

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU COMBINE INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY WITH THE LATEST CONCEPTS IN FAMILY-CENTERED CARE? CLEARVIEW REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, A HOSPITAL LIKE NO OTHER IN THE WALTON COUNY AREA

Residents of Walton and surrounding counties won’t have to drive long distances any longer to find ground-breaking healthcare. Now they have it in their own backyard.

Clearview Regional Medical Center opened its doors on April 22, 2012 at 2151 West Spring Street, Monroe. Patients and families can now experience an exceptional level of medical care, provided by many of the same physicians and staff they have come to know and trust at Walton Regional Medical Center. The new 110,000-square-foot hospital includes the most sophisticated diagnostic, treatment and monitoring technology.

“This state-of-the-art facility was designed to serve as a healing environment for generations to come,” says JT Barnhart, Chief Executive Officer of Clearview Regional Medical Center. “In addition to beautiful furnishings, it is equipped with the same leading-edge technology you will find at the nation’s top medical centers.

“Walton Regional Medical Center was built in 1959 and was starting to show its age,” Barnhart explains. “For us, it made perfect sense to invest in this new facility. We now have the best technology in the hands of the finest doctors and associates.”

HIGH TECH MEETS HIGH TOUCH

The $60 million medical center includes all private patient room, spacious surgical suites, a state-of-the-art ER, attractive labor and delivery rooms, and a comprehensive orthopedics center. The modern facility also features:

Level III Trauma Center

The Emergency Medicine Center at Clearview Regional Medical Center is staffed and equipped to handle everything from simple fractures and earaches to serious illnesses and injuries. It is also a Level III trauma center for the State of Georgia.

According to Norman Baker, D.O., a Board-Certified Physician in Emergency Medicine, designation means the medical center has met stringent criteria for providing comprehensive care for trauma patients from admission to rehabilitation.
“Trauma is any life-threatening occurrence – either accidental or intentional – that causes injuries, such as motor vehicle accidents, falls and assaults,” Dr. Baker explains. “Traumatic injuries often require complex and multidisciplinary treatment, including surgery to give the patient the best possible chance for survival and recovery.”

In order to qualify as a trauma center, a hospital must meet standards established by the American College of Surgeons. Trauma centers vary in their specific capabilities and are identified by “Level” designation: Level I being the highest to Level IV being the lowest. As a Level III trauma center, Clearview Regional Medical Center does not have the full availability of all specialists, but does have the resources for emergency resuscitation, surgery and intensive care of most trauma patients.

“Our designation as a trauma center validates that Clearview Regional has the expertise and resources to provide the best possible care to patients suffering traumatic injuries,” Dr. Baker says.

The da Vinci® Surgical System

At the new Clearview Regional Medical Center, a space-age robot will be lending a hand –actually four hands – to treat prostate, gynecology and general surgery cases.

Not meant to replace a surgeon, the da Vinci system virtually extends the surgeon’s eyes and hands into the surgical field—allowing for complex dissection or reconstruction in a minimally invasive environment. This robotic technology is designed to scale, filter and seamlessly translate the surgeon’s hand movements into the precise movements of the robotic arms and instruments.

“Robotic-assisted surgery has been shown to be safe and effective for a number of medical procedures including prostatectomy and hysterectomy,” says Chris Ibikunle, M.D., a Board-Certified General Surgeon in Loganville. Dr. Ibikunle has received specialized training in robotic-assisted surgery.

“Using just five to six small incisions, robotic-assisted surgery has all the benefits of minimally invasive surgery including shorter hospital stays, less blood loss, less scaring, faster recovery and a quicker return to normal activities,” he says.

Smart Operating Rooms

A surgical robot isn’t the only high-tech tool you will find in the operating room at Clearview Regional Medical Center. With four surgical suites and two endoscopy procedure rooms, the facility is home to a genuinely “Smart” OR.

Smart operating rooms use state-of-the-art equipment that is digitally integrated so the patient’s information is right at the surgeons’ fingertips. They can access patient images during surgery and transmit images from the operating room to specialists for real-time consultation.

“Smart OR’s allow for 3-D image-guided surgery, which helps surgeons navigate the path of surgery at every point and verify the success of the procedure,” Barnhart says. “A Smart OR ensures the highest quality of care with optimal patient safety, surgical precision, patient comfort and the best outcome.”

3-Dimensional Imaging

Clearview Regional Medical Center’s Radiology Department, located near the Emergency Department and Operating Room, is equipped with advanced technology including a new 64-slice CT scanner, digital mammography, a new 1.5 tesla MRI unit and nuclear stress testing. All scans are processed digitally, allowing physicians to obtain their patients’ images immediately and remotely.

“We are combining innovative technology with the latest concepts in patient care to create a hospital like no other in our community,” Barnhart says. “From our infant security system to our surgical robot to 3-D imaging, we have thoughtfully designed a hospital-of-the-future for patients, families, physicians and staff.”

THE HOSPITAL OF TOMORROW—TODAY

“Our patients deserve the very best in healthcare—and we are making sure they get it,” says Terry S. Chongulia, M.D., a Board-Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Chief of Staff at Clearview Regional Medical Center. “With comfortable accommodations, cutting-edge equipment and smart technology, the doctors and staff at Clearview Regional will deliver the finest clinical care, right here in our community.

“It’s clearly a new day for healthcare in Walton County,” Dr. Chongulia says. “After years of planning and construction, we are excited and proud to move into our new home. We are even more thrilled to get to work in the brand-new facility, providing superior care for generations to come.”

“When you look out from our new front doors, it’s a clear view to the river’s edge, the commercial area and the surrounding oak trees,” Barnhart adds. “We also have a clear view of our future as the leader in healthcare in Walton County. For our physicians and associates and the patients we serve, the choice is now clear. The choice is Clearview Regional Medical Center.”
