Critics Consensus
B Positive's familiar sitcom trappings are elevated by its charming cast - especially the weird and winsome comedic stylings of Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford.
Michael Starr New York Post It's almost a given by now that any Chuck Lorre sitcom will be cleverly cast and sharply written, with snappy one-liners offset by a smattering of heartfelt sincerity. Nov 11, 2020 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com Thanks to its stars, B Positive earns mildly favorable scores at the outset, even if the title, as sitcom grades go, would be a bit too positive. Nov 6, 2020 Full Review Caroline Framke Variety In Ashford's hands, even Gina's most basic lines get a smart delivery, and she allows just enough genuine vulnerability peek through that the character becomes the show's most intriguing by a mile. Nov 6, 2020 Full Review Natalia Trzenko La Nación (Argentina) Middleditch's (Silicon Valley) ability for physical comedy and renowned Broadway actress Ashford's immense talent of helps a lot. [Full review in Spanish] Jan 13, 2022 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut B Positive has an interesting enough hook to be worth returning to for now, but it's lacking any big laughs or genuinely new ideas. Rated: 2.5/5 May 11, 2021 Full Review Aaron Barnhart Primetimer Casting is key, and Annaleigh Ashford nails it as Gina, which one would expect from the Tony Award winner for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It With You. B Positive: Cancelled by CBS; No Season Three for Thursday Night Comedy Series - IMDb. Gina and Drew won't be back for the 2022-23 television season. CBS has cancelled B Positive so it won't see a third year. Fellow Thursday night sitcom United States of Al, also produced by Chuck Lorre, was cancelled last night.
The cancellation comes after Pennette departed the series ahead of the season 2 premiere last October. The series was inspired by the creator's own personal experiences. In an interview with TVLine in March, Lorre said there had been no renewal discussions at the time, admitting he was "nervous" about the uncertainty.
Streaming on Roku. B Positive, a drama series starring Thomas Middleditch, Annaleigh Ashford, and Kether Donohue is available to stream now. Watch it on Prime Video or Apple TV on your Roku device.
CBS has opted not to renew the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy series B Positive for a third season, Deadline has learned. The decision follows the cancellation last night of another Lorre-produced sophom*ore CBS comedy series, United States Of Al.
