SomeKACE Systems Management Appliance features requiredirect access to thecustomer’s network, which isestablished for KACE as a Service using site-to-site VPNconnections. VPN connectionsleverage the shared KACE as a Service network, and a single VPNconnection is usuallysufficient to enable the functionality for a single company. Insome cases, however,additional VPN connections might be necessary, and dedicatednetwork bandwidth might berequired.
- Features require a VPN connection:
- Wake-on-LAN.
- Network Discovery, including IP Scan, ActiveDirectory® scan, and NMAPscan.
- KACE Systems Management Appliance Agent provisioning fromthe appliance.
- Importing and exporting resources (file sharing is blockedby the Dell cloudfirewall).
- FTP access to backup files (FTP access is blocked by theDell cloudfirewall).
- Application packages and script dependencies must beuploaded using HTTP.Large package uploads could timeout on slower networkconnections. Packageslarger than 2 GB must be distributed using an AlternateDownload Location froman internal file server.
- LDAP user and device labels.
- LDAP user authentication.
- LDAP user import.
- Active Directory single sign on for the AdministratorConsole and UserConsole.
- Email forwarding, used for Service Desk tickets and otheremailcommunications.
- In addition, the following User Console features are notsupported in thecloud:
- Automatic software installations from the User Console(downloads aresupported).
- The My Computer tab in the User Console.
