Happy Nurses' Week! Keep shining your light of hope! As we care for the whole person - body, mind and spirit, let us continue to use the power of our collective voice! We are standing up for those with diminished voice, advocating for justice and nurturing those who need human compassion. Patients, families and communities are healthier because of nurses. Thank you to all nurses for your dedication to our collective health!

Carthage College held the first Social Justice Summit today. I was truly inspired by the speakers. Dr. Toshi Szpyra presented on equity and inclusion in behavioral health. This event was the work of senior students, Gloria Castro-Jimenez and Julia Peters. What an awesome day.

"Turning Intention Into Impact" is the first ever Social Justice Summit theme. This event results from the hard work of one of our Class of 2024 Nursing Students, Gloria Castro-Jimenez and her peer from environmental science, Julia Peters. For lunch, feel free to join the Carthage Nursing table to network. The event is open to community members, alumni, students, faculty, and staff. Hope to see you there!

Honored to advocate for nursing education on behalf of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. Our Wisconsin team truly shared amazing perspectives on the academic nursing journey. Our team included Jill Guttormson, Kristen Abbott-Anderson, and Seon Yoon Chung.@AACNDeans24 @aacnursing

The Office of Engagement and Inclusion and Carthage Athletics presented the movie “Hesburgh.” “Hesburgh” is a documentary film that explores the life of reverend Theodore Hesburgh, president of the University of Notre Dame. From his early years as a priest to his tenure as the University of Notre Dame president, Hesburgh became a leading voice in the civil rights movement, an advisor to several U.S. presidents, and a champion of social justice causes. This movie was impactful, especially with our students who had a great dialogue after. See the film and go out and be the change.
